7月14日から横浜美術館で開催される個展「奈良美智: 君や 僕に ちょっと似ている」のオー プンに併せ、
2011年から2012 年に制作された新作木版画を展示致します。
Yoshitomo Nara continues to fascinate people around the world with his diverse works, paintings of children and animals that leave an unforgettable impression, drawings made like a diary, sculptures, and large-scale installations. Coinciding with the opening of the solo exhibition, “Yoshitomo Nara: a bit like you and me...” to be held at the Yokohama Museum of Art this summer, from July 14 to September 23, 2012, we present new woodblock prints made by Nara in 2011 and 2012.

【プロフィール】
1958年、青森県弘前市生まれ。画家、彫刻家。1988年ドイツのデュッセルドルフ芸術アカデミーに入学、卒業後もケルンを拠点に作品を制作。2000年に帰国、以後精力的に作品を制作し国内外の展覧会で発表を続ける。主な個展に01'「I don't mind, if you forget me.」（横浜美術館、横浜／02'まで国内を巡回）03'「Nothing Ever Happens」（クリーブランド現代美術館、オハイオ、アメリカ／05'までアメリカ国内を巡回）、04'「From the Depth of My Drawer」（原美術館、東京／05'まで国内、韓国へ巡回）2006年と2007年には奈良美智 + grafとして「Yoshitomo Nara+graf A to Z」（吉井酒造煉瓦倉庫、弘前 )、「Moonlight Serenade -月夜曲 」（金沢21世紀現代美術館、金沢）「奈良美智 + graf」（GEM, Museum of Contemporary Art、デンハーグ、オランダ）「Torre de Malaga (Tower of Malaga)」（マラガ現代美術館、マラガ・スペイン）などで大規模なインスタレーションを発表。2010年にはセラミックを使った彫刻作品を発表（「セラミック・ワークス」 小山登美夫ギャラリー、東京）。同年にはニューヨークで大規模な個展「Yoshitomo Nara: Nobody's Fool」（ アジアソサエティーミュージアム、ニューヨーク、アメリカ）を開催。今夏、横浜美術館で開催の個展「奈良美智：君や 僕に ちょっと似ている」は、青森県立美術館、熊本市現代美術館、アジア・オセアニアを巡回予定。
＜Profile＞
NARA Yoshitomo was born in 1958, in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. He completed master's program ar Aichi Prefectural University and subsequently studied at Kunstakademie Dusseldorf, Germany. After completing Meisterschuler from A.R Penk in 1993, he continued to work in Cologne until 2000. From 2000, he lives and works in Japan and participates to international as well as domestic exhibitions. Major solo exhibitions include "I don't mind, if you forget me." (Yokohama Museum of Art, Yokohama, 2001 / Toured in Japan until 2002), "Nothing Ever Happens" (Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, Cleveland, OH , USA, 2003/ Toured in USA until 2005), "From the Depth of My Drawer" (Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, 2004 Toured in Japan and Korea until 2005). In 2006 and 2007, Nara created collaborative' works with creative unit 'graf', as Yoshitomo Nara + graf and held exhibitions such as "Yoshitomo Nara + graf A to Z" (Yoshii Brick Brewhouse, Hirosaki, Aomori, 2006) , "Moonlight Srenade" (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 2006) "Yoshitomo Nara + graf" (GEM, Museum of Contemporary Art, The Hague,The Nederlands, 2007) "Torre de Malaga (Tower of Malaga)"(+graf) (CAC malaga, Malaga, Spain2007) In 2010, he exhibited ceramic sculptures in his solo show "ceramic works" (Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo, 2010). Also, in 2010, the first major New York exhibition "Yoshitomo Nara: Nobody's Fool" was held in Asia Society Museum, New York, USA. A large scale solo show, "NARA Yoshitomo : a bit like you and me... " is exhibiting at the Yokohama Museum of Art from this July and will travel to Aomori, Kumamoto, and other venues within Asia and Oceania following the Yokohama Museum of Art.
