この度、8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Galleryでは、デヴィッド・リンチ 版画展を開催いたします。

 

デヴィッド・リンチは、映画のみならず、絵画や写真、アニメーションや立体作品など、様々な方法で表現をし続けています。 アート作品も高い評価を得ており、2007年のパリのカルティエ現代美術財団での大回顧展は大成功を収めました。日本では1991年に東高現代美術館、2012年にラフォーレミュージアム原宿にて個展を行っています。 本展では、 新作を含む版画作品を展示いたします。映画同様に、夢と幻が描かれたダークな作品制作をし続けるリンチの近作を是非この機会にご高覧ください。

 

デヴィッド・リンチは1946年アメリカ、モンタナ州生まれ。画家を目指し1965年にペンシルべニア美術アカデミーに入学しました。AFI（アメリカ映画協会）の奨学金を得て1977年『イレイザーヘッド』を制作。その後、1980年『エレファント・マン』（アカデミー賞8部門ノミネート）、1986年『ブルーベルベット』（アカデミー賞監督賞ノミネート）、1990年『ワイルド・アット・ハート』（カンヌ国際映画祭パルムドール受賞）などを発表しています。1989年～1991年TVシリーズ『ツイン・ピークス』は世界中で大ヒットを記録し、2017年には続編、『ツイン・ピークス The Return』も公開となりました。2001年『マルホランド・ドライブ』ではカンヌ国際映画祭監督賞を、2006年には今までの業績に対してヴェネチア国際映画祭栄誉金獅子賞を受賞しています。2018年1月27日には、リンチが自身について語るドキュメンタリー『デヴィッド・リンチ：アートライフ』が日本公開されます。

8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of prints by David Lynch. 

 

David Lynch is a well-known film director but has also expressed his creative impulses in other media from his early years: painting, photography, animation, and sculpture as well as film. His largest retrospective exhibition at Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris in 2007 achieved great success. In Japan, he held solo exhibitions at the Toko Museum of Contemporary Art in 1991 and Laforet Museum Harajuku in 2012. This exhibition features lithographs and woodcut prints produced in recent years.

 

David Lynch was born in 1946, in Montana, USA.  He enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1965, aiming to become a painter.  Funded by AFI (American Film Institute), he completed the production of “Eraserhead” in 1977.  He went on to release “The Elephant Man” in 1980 which was nominated in eight categories at the Academy Awards, “Blue Velvet” in 1986 which was nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards, and “Wild at Heart” in 1990 which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. His TV series “Twin Peaks” which ran from 1989 to 1991 became a big hit all over the world and the sequel series was released in 2017. He received the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001 with “Mulholland Drive”, and in 2006 he was given the Golden Lion Award for lifetime achievement at the Venice Film Festival. His documentary film “David Lynch: The Art Life” will be released in Japan on January 27, 2018
