この度 8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery では、2月20日~3月4日 までトム・サックス展「STORE」を開催致します。小山登美夫ギャラリーでは、 2011 年 TKG エディションズ京都での開催以来2年ぶり、4回目の個展となります。
トム・サックスの作品はいわば「手作り(ハンドメイド)の既製品(レディメイド)」。 PRADA のロゴで作られた便器や、HERMÉS の包装紙でかたどられたマクドナルドの バリューセット、馬小屋の聖家族のオブジェに聖母マリアや幼子イエスとしてハロー キティーが鎮座する等、聖性と俗性、ファンシーなものと凶暴なもの等グレードの違 う「記号」同士をまぜこぜにし、わざと稚拙なディテールによって見るものを引きつ けます。本展では、トム・サックスが近年に制作してきた、"Kelly Bag"、"American Tool Kit" 等、立体、プロダクト、カタログのエディション作品が含まれたトランクに 加え、2011 年制作の映像作品 1 点、2012 年制作の立体作品3点をご覧頂けます。 アイロニカルながらもユーモラスな彼の作品世界をぜひお楽しみください。

8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery is pleased to present Tom Sachs ‘s solo show “STORE” from Febuary 20th until March 4th. This is his forth exhibition with Tomio Koyama Gallery since his solo show at TKG Editions Kyoto in 2011.
His works are, so to say, "handmade readymades". A mixture of "symbols" such as sacredness and secularity, and fancy and violent things shown in works of a toilet bowl with Prada logos, a McDonald's value meal in Hermés wrapping paper, and Hello Kitty sitting neatly as the Virgin Mary or bambino (Jesus as a boy) in presepio (Nativity Scene) attract us with the intentional naive detail. "STORE" showcased in this exhibition is the trunk that contains Tom Sach's recent edition works. In this exhibition, one video work in 2011 and three sculptural works in 2012 are also on view along with his recent sculptures, products and catalogues, including "Kelly Bag" and "American Tool Kit". Please enjoy the ironically humorous world of his creative expression.
