篠山紀信　しのやま・きしん
 

1940年、東京生まれ。59年、日本大学芸術学部写真学科に入学。在学中の61年、広告制作会社「ライトパブリシテイ」写真部に入社。第1回広告写真家協会展でAPA賞(61年)を受賞。63 年に大学を卒業し、広告写真を撮るかたわら、「アサヒカメラ」「カメラ毎日」「話の特集」などにヌードを中心とした作品を発表。68年、フリーに。日本写真批評家協会新人賞(66年)、日本写真協会年度賞(70年)、芸術選奨文部大臣新人賞、講談社出版文化賞( 73 年)を次々に受賞。数多くの雑誌の表紙やグラビアを席巻する一方、『晴れた日』(平凡社)、『家』 (潮出版社)など作品性の高い写真集や海外での展示も。76年には「アサヒカメラ」で中平卓馬と「決闘写真論」を連載するとともに、第1 回木村伊兵衛写真賞の選考委員を務める。その後も山口百恵や宮沢りえ、ジョン・レノンとオノヨーコなど…その時代を代表する人物を撮り続け、「激写」や「シノラマ」など新しい表現方法と新技術で常にその時代を切り撮り続け、話題になった撮影は枚挙にいとまがない。また、最近ではデジタルカメラで撮影した写真と映像の新しい表現< digi+ KISHIN >を展開する等、常に話題性のある作品を発表し、写真表現に新風を送り込んでいる。2010年には、台北市立美術館にて個展『篠山紀信SHINORAMATOKYO』を開催。また、2012年には、熊本現代美術館をはじめ、日本全国の美術館にて個展『THE PEOPLE by KISHIN』が巡回予定。

Kishin Shinoyama
 

　　Born in Tokyo, 1940. In 1951, entered the Nihon University College of Art, Department of photography. In 1961, worked with the advertising agency, Light Publicity while still a student. Won the 1^st Japan Advertising Photographer’s Association (APA) Award in the same year. After graduating from the university in 1963, published a series of works, mostly nude photography as a subject matter, while shooting advertising photos. Working as a freelance photographer since 1968. He received a stream of awards, including the New Artist Award from the Japan Photo-Critics Association (1966), the Annual Award from the Photographic Society of Japan (1970), the Art Encouragement Prize for Freshman of Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (1973), Kodansha Publishing Culture Award (1973). Besides his works dominated many magazine covers and spreads, he published the artistic photography books including hareta hi/ A Fine Day (Heibonsha), and Meaning of The House (Ushio) and held exhibitions abroad. In 1976, he serialized Ketto Shashinron collaborated with Takuma Nakahira in Asahi Camera magazine and served as a judge of the 1^st Kimura Ihei Award. Since then, he kept taking celebrity portraits including Momoe Yamaguchi, Rie Miyazawa, John Lennon and Yoko Ono and so on, and his shootings attracted a great deal of attention from the public and the media as he continued to frame the era with a new style of expression and novel technologies such as Gekisha and Shinorama.
　　Recently, he constantly puts out newsworthy works, introducing a fresh current toward photographic expression as developing <digi+Kishin>, the new expression of photographs and movies taken with a digital camera. His solo exhibition “SHINORAMA TOKYO” was held in TAIPEI FINE ARTS MUESUM in 2010. In 2012, started from Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto, his major exhibition “THE PEOPLE by KISHIN” is scheduled to tour to museums in Japan.
